City of Long Beach Tree Planting
The Long Beach Office of Climate Action & Sustainability has been supporting the growth of Long Beach’s urban forest through its Tree Planting Program. It offers residents, businesses, and community organizations the opportunity to have free trees planted in their parkways. This initiative not only beautifies our streets but also provides environmental benefits such as improved air quality, reduced urban heat, and increased biodiversity. Their team has planted 842 trees so far this season and hopes to plant 1,000 by the end of the season!
LARC’s College Corps fellow Suzan had the opportunity to attend the Houghton Neighborhood Community Tree Planting in Long Beach and planted 24 trees total alongside other volunteers. The event was part of the City’s broader Neighbor-to-Neighbor program, which aims to strengthen community bonds and promote climate action through local projects. It was a wonderful event that brought the community together and beautified the street while contributing to the city’s sustainability goals.

Let's continue to grow together, one tree at a time!
