Wildfire Defense for Landscape Professionals
The Wildfire Defense Professional Certificate for Landscapers module is a 150-minute training followed by certification testing to be taken online. This certification training provides participants with real-world examples and strategies for fire risk reduction.

LA County Coastal Resilience Planning Workshop (Hybrid)
Join the LA County Coastal Resilience Team at the first Coastal Resilience Planning Workshop to learn more about the formation of a countywide coastal coalition to develop a “Regional Coastal Strategic Adaptation Plan” (RCSAP) to guide long-term shoreline management goals and projects.

California Economic Summit

AdaptLA Meeting
Join USC Sea Grant at the next AdaptLA Meeting of 2025! The webinar will discuss the newly released California Estuary Assessment (CEA) Tool. The CEA Tool provides remotely-sensed information about mouth state and inundation extent of California bar-built estuaries (BBEs) with the goal of informing BBE management.
The featured speakers will be the tool developers, Karina Alvarez (The Julius Maximilians University of Würzburg) and Sarah Payne (University of California, Santa Barbara). Come learn how you can use the CEA tool to evaluate estuary mouth state, inundation extent, and more!

Webinar #4: CalHeatScore as an Extreme Heat Planning Resource
On Nov 12, 2025 12:00-1:00, please join us for the fourth webinar in a series of six that will focus on the newly released CalHeatScore tool.
This webinar will provide an overview of extreme heat planning at the state level, highlight California communities who are developing local extreme heat plans, and review the purpose and proposed contents of the CalHeatScore User Guide.
This series is a partnership effort between the Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA), the Governor's Office of Land Use and Climate Innovation (LCI), the Los Angeles Regional Collaborative for Climate Action and Sustainability (LARC), and the UCLA Luskin Center for Innovation.

Cities and the Environment Symposium
The LMU Center for Urban Resilience (CURes) is happy to invite all of their collaborators and supporters to join them at their inaugural Cities and the Environment Symposium on Thursday, November 20th 2025!
The symposium will be a convening of researchers, practitioners, and community members to celebrate past successes, future growth and ongoing partnerships of the Cities and the Environment (CATE) Journal and 15 years of CURes operations.
This will be a public, conference-style format with presentations, group discussions, and a poster session. It will also include lunch, networking coffee breaks and a closing "happy hour" reception.

Climate Adaptation Equity Workshop
The Climate Adaption Equity Workshop will consider potential refinements to the existing CPUC requirements to improve prioritization of equity considerations in the large investor-owned utilities’ (IOUs) Climate Adaptation Vulnerability Assessments (CAVA). This workshop will engage a broad range of stakeholders to inform refined requirements for developing measurable criteria and metrics as well as refined community engagement processes, as outlined in Task 2 of the Climate Adaptation proceeding, Phase II Scoping Memo.
The input provided in this workshop is expected to inform a future CPUC staff proposal and Commission decision.

Santa Clarita 30th River Rally Cleanup and Environmental Expo
Join hundreds of Santa Clarita residents in cleaning a portion of the Santa Clara River, by Wiley Canyon Road, off the Via Princessa Bridge. Volunteers will pick up trash and debris from the riverbed and surrounding areas. Gloves and trash bags will be provided.

The Nature-based Solutions (NbS) Certificate program is designed to provide professionals with the knowledge and skills needed to understand, implement, and promote Nature-based Solutions principles and practices in their design projects.
