Sun Safety 101

LA’s sunlight is no joke! High heat = high UV risk.

Protecting your skin prevents skin cancer, sunburns, and long-term damage.

Sunscreen Do’s and Don’ts

Make it a daily habit to protect your skin from UV rays. On hot days, avoid direct sunlight when possible.

  • Use SPF 15+ every day— all skin tones need it.

  • Don’t forget your ears, neck, and hands— even the back of your knees!

  • Reapply sunscreen every 2 hours, or more if you are exercising. Sunscreen is not entirely sweat- or water-proof.

  • Apply about a nickle-sized dollop of sunscreen on your face.

Gear Up To Cool Down

Sunscreen should be your last layer of protection, not your only one. Wear:

  • Wide-brimmed hats

  • UV-protective clothing or long-sleeves

  • Sunglasses with UV protection

  • Umbrellas or parasols
