What to do during a Heat Advisory

A heat advisory means a heat wave will impact the Los Angeles region. This is a prolonged period of high humidity and heat for 2 or more days and can be dangerous for you and your community.

It is important to follow the checklist below to stay heat safe.

Your HeatSafeLA Checklist

  • Drink more water throughout the day

  • Never leave older adults, children, or pets in a parked car. Call 911 if you see  someone alone in a car on a hot day

  • Wear lightweight clothing

  • Wear sunscreen

  • Have a “buddy system” to check in on people who need extra help in the community
