What to do during a Heat Advisory
A heat advisory means a heat wave will impact the Los Angeles region. This is a prolonged period of high humidity and heat for 2 or more days and can be dangerous for you and your community.
It is important to follow the checklist below to stay heat safe.

Drink more water throughout the day
Never leave older adults, children, or pets in a parked car. Call 911 if you see someone alone in a car on a hot day
Wear lightweight clothing
Wear sunscreen
Have a “buddy system” to check in on people who need extra help in the community
Heat Advisory Updates
[8/5/2025]: A heat wave will impact the LA region through at least Tuesday 8/6, possibly longer for the Antelope Valley. Interior areas will be 100 to 110, with the coastal areas away from the beach and coastal valleys seeing highs of 90-106 degrees.
